Gizmo5 Acquired By Google

San Diego-based Gizmo5, the voice-over-IP service and software started by former MP3.com founder Michael Robertson, has been acquired by Google. Google announced the deal late Thursday afternoon. According to Google, it does not have any specific features to announce right now, but will be adding Gizmo5's engineers to its Google Voice team. Google said it is suspending new signups for Gizmo5's VoIP service, and existing users will no longer be able to sign up for a call-in number. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. FlipGloss Acquired By Forbes

Santa Monica-based FlipGloss, which develops online photo publishing software for the magazine industry, has been acquired by Forbes. Forbes Media announced the deal Thursday afternoon, but did not disclose any financial terms of the deal. According to Forbes, it will incorporate FlipGloss' technology into Forbes.com, starting with the launch of a feature called "The World's Most Powerful People." FlipGloss was backed by Forbes, which invested in the firm in March of 2008. FlipGloss was founded and headed by Kerry Trainor. READ MORE>>No tag for this post.
