AP - YAHOO'S CUTS: Yahoo Inc. will fire at least 1,500 people — 10 percent of its work force. This figures to be a more thorough housecleaning than when Yahoo had layoffs in February. In that round about 1,000 workers were cut loose, but Yahoo's payroll returned to the previous level within months.No tag for this post.

After logging sharp gains the previous session, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 2.5 percent, while the Nasdaq composite index lost more than 4 percent following a weak showing by technology names.
